Long term plans to restore Ayr Gaiety Theatre will take a step forward thanks to a significant funding boost annouced by Social Justice Secretary Alex Neil on a visit to the Gaiety today.

The £500,000 loan from the Social Growth Fund will be used to repair the historic theatre's stall seating and to invest in new lighting and sound technology.

Pictured on stage discussing the plans are (left) Jeremy Wyatt, Executive Director of the Gaiety and (right) Alex Neil, Social Justice Secretary.
